Overcoming resilient bacterial infection
Recurrent bacterial infections that are resilient to treatment are a huge clinical challenge. Lucy Frost works with scientists and clinicians at Warwick Medical School to understand how bacteria invade and survive our host defence systems.
With the support from the Medical and Life Sciences Research Fund the research group aim to identify molecules that are crucial for bacterial survival. These molecules are excellent drug or vaccine targets and will lead to effective preventive and therapeutic strategies. Industries interested in developing new drug therapies will benefit from this research, and it will also be of interest to clinicians and hospital staff who treat patients infected with drug resistant bacteria.
